Caring for your Charcuterie board/cutting board
Before you apply your beeswax finish to your board, make sure it’s clean. Wash it with
soap and water and allow to air dry or wipe dry.
– treat your charcuterie board frequently,
– Store whatever oil or wax finishing products in cool, dark places
– Should you mark the board with knife cuts, don’t worry it’s wood and you can sand
the cuts out with 120 and then 220 grit sand paper and then re-seal the board with the
bee’s wax and mineral oil finish.
Do Not
– Use abrasive materials on the board (e.g. scrubbing with steel wool)
– Place your wooden board in direct sunlight or over direct heat
– Use olive oil or vegetable oils to season your board, as these will go rancid
That’s it! As long as you are maintaining your charcuterie or cutting board regularly, it
should last for years.
Lastly remember that wood is subject to humidity, if your house is dry in the winter
this can cause your board to dry out. As well if your house is very humid in the
summer this can affect your board as well. We cannot be responsible for these
factors and how they affect your board.
